On Earth II

My idea here in this series of prints is to raise awareness of the vital importance that trees represent for life on Earth.

For this representation I used the same shape of trees, engraved on a rubber plate, which I stamped under the title “On Earth”, in different monotypes and Chine Collè as background.

The first four prints of the engraving “On Earth” have as background a monotype that I achieved by spraying dry powdered pigments on paper.
The pigments are dry, so I sprinkled a few drops of water on them and quickly placed a Plexiglas plate on the sheet with the already moistened pigments and pressed it in the etching press.

When the paper is pressed with plexiglass in the engraving press, the pigments sprayed with water tend to spread, thus generating different shapes.

When these monotypes dried, I stamped them with the trees made on a rubber sheet.

The last two On Earth’s prints, the trees carved in rubber plate, are stamped with a Chine Collè with Japanese paper.
